StumbleUpon WebToolbar – How to extract DNA at home

StumbleUpon WebToolbar – How to extract DNA at home.

We’ve been doing quite a bit of this in the lab using DNA extraction kits and columns… I thought it’d be interesting to see how we can do this at home.

  1. Synthetic biology already is being done in garages! See http://diybio.org/. It’s important to think about ethical and safety concerns before we extend everything freely to the public, however (which is why DIYbiologists were unable to participate in this year’s iGEM).

  2. Check this out – Home Molecular Genetics @ Make Magazine. p65 has an article from your home = AMBL!
